Well, Ashlyn has a fractured arm. She fell on the playground at school on Friday and when I picked her up, she told me she had fallen and that she hurt her funny bone. I didn't think too much about it, because for those of you who know Ashlyn, she falls all the time! But she fell from one of the pieces of equipment that she was climbing on.
Anyway, Saturday went by and she kept favoring her arm. I could tell that it was bothering her, but when we would ask her about it, she would just say it didn't hurt that bad. Well, Sunday comes and no better. So this morning I called her pediatrician and made an appointment. He checked her over and sent us to TC Thompson for an x-ray. I was just thinking the whole time that it would just be like a bone bruise or maybe a torn rotator cuff or something. I thought we would be in and out of x-ray.
Well, a couple of hours later...they tell us she has a fracture in the upper arm bone. They couldn't really cast it because of where it is, but they put her in a sling and then we have to follow up with Dr. Bruce sometime before Thanksgiving. The bad part is, it's her left arm, which she is left-handed, but she is such a trooper! She never complained and she never cried! I had a broken bone in high school and I cried like a baby!!
It should heal fairly quickly because of the type of break and where it is, but she is going to have to miss gymnastics and she is NOT happy about that! It's like I told her, it could be a lot worse! Anyway, hope everyone has a good week! Good night!

Poor thing! I guess the only good thing about it is you've got your first broken bone (and hopefully last) behind you and you survived. You'll love Dr. Bruce. Fisher goes to him. Very good doc!
